Elizabeth Heffernan

I am delighted to share that this is my 11^th year as Principal of Riverview WSSE.  I have a diverse educational background with an emphasis on Special Education.  I received my B.A. in Speech/Language Pathology from the University of Texas El Paso (home of “Glory Road” Texas Western Miners); an M.A. in Communication Disorders from the University of Minnesota and a Specialist Degree in Educational Administration also from the University of Minnesota.

I call Minnesota my home, but I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas.  My mom and dad raised six children.  I grew up in a bilingual household and have four sisters and one brother.  Education was the first priority for my parents and that is a value I carry with me to this day.

I live at home with my two energetic and amazing children, Ian who is a sophomore in high school and Aimee who is in fourth grade.  Some of the things we enjoy doing together are skiing, golfing, and traveling.

Being a former ballet dancer, I have a passion for the performing arts.  I love dancing and music, and wish I could sing like Mrs. Masrud!  I also LOVE to read!  It takes me places that I can only dream of going to.

This year I walked 60 miles in three days with The Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk.  I am very proud of this accomplishment and it helped keep me fit and active while training for it.  Thank you for reading my bio!
