My name is Samina Ali and I am looking forward to my third year as the counselor at Riverview Elementary WSSE. This year I will also be the Co-Program Coordinator for the ALC Extended Day Program at Riverview. Before moving to Minnesota, I was an elementary counselor in Phoenix, Arizona. As a school counselor, I help students find success by working with them individually, in groups, and in classrooms. We work on social skills, school motivation, friendship skills, and strategies to achieve academically. I also help families get connected with needed resources and provide support.

I earned my master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and did my undergraduate work at the University of Iowa for my teaching license. Besides being a counselor, I have taught high school social studies and have also taught ESL (English as a Second Language). I enjoy traveling, learning about different cultures, volunteering, and camping with my husband.
